Sudden bilateral dry eye research and support
We’ve read every story and seen every photo, and we know how hard this has been for you and your dog. You both deserve answers, and we’ll keep supporting the research to find them.
Science can take years, and we don’t believe you should have to wait, or that the outcome of the investigation should stop us helping you when you need it most. So we’re doing as much as we can, as quickly as we can, while Years still exists.
Who we can support
The support programme is open to dogs who meet the following, confirmed with their veterinary records:
- Sudden bilateral dry eye diagnosis with Schirmer rating 5 or below
- Dry eye diagnosis with Schirmer rating 10 or below
- Purchased Years between 1 March and 17 August
- Diagnosis verified with veterinary records, and directly with your veterinary practice
Sudden bilateral dry eye diagnosis
This is the current publicly available definition from the BrAVO working group. A diagnosis of sudden bilateral dry eye means:
- Sudden severe onset with no prior dry eye
- Schirmer tear rating 5 or below
- Unresponsive to traditional treatment
Dry eye diagnosis
We’re extending our support beyond the BrAVO definition to include dogs with a wider dry eye diagnosis.
- No prior dry eye
- Schirmer tear rating 10 or below
